We propose a restroom with a circulation system so that children can enjoy coming home. We have come up with a completely new form that combines a toilet and a playground equipment. The playground equipment in the Children's Plaza is a "giant tree," an image of a tree. Pom Pom is a space with "play equipment made of wood" as a wood education center.
In the past, natural trees were cut down and floated directly to the river to be transported by the river's current, prepared as lumber, and processed into furniture and other products. In this site, there are trees (Fuchu no Ki), a river (people's flow line), and wooden products (Pom Pom playground equipment). The site in this proposal can be regarded as if it were in the process of flow and transport.
Therefore, we wanted to create a toilet that looks like a river as a path. Our goal was to create a space where all visitors to Fuchu Kodomo no Kuni would become "trees" flowing down the river.
The plan is based on a curved surface that evokes the flow of the river, and creates a gentle flow line. The cornerless shape is safe for users, and the eaves function as a space to block sunlight and rain. In consideration of the surrounding environment, we tried to harmonize the white exterior and structure of Pom Pom.
This proposal provides a new experience that makes going to the bathroom fun for both children and adults.

こどもたちが楽しく帰ってこれるような回遊性のあるトイレを提案します。トイレと遊具を複合させた、これまでにない全く新しいカタチを考えました。こどもの広場の遊具は「巨大な木」、樹木をイメージしています。ポムポムは木育拠点として「木材を使用した遊具」のある空間です。
かつては自然の樹木は切り出され、直接川に浮かべることで川の流れによって運び(流送)、木材として整えられ、家具などの製品へと加工されていました。この敷地には、樹木(ふちゅうの木)が存在し、川(人々の動線)が存在し、木工製品(ポムポムの遊具)が存在します。本提案における敷地は、あたかも流送のプロセスに位置していると捉えることができるのではないでしょうか。
そこで私たちは道としての川のようなトイレを作りたいと思いました。府中こどもの国を訪れた全ての人が川を流れる「木」となるような空間を目指しました。
川の流れを想像させるような曲面を基調とした、ゆるやかな動線を生み出すプランとしています。角のない形状は利用者にとって安全であり、庇により日差しや雨を遮る空間としても機能します。周辺環境への配慮として、ポムポムの白い外観や構造との調和を図りました。
本提案はこどもも大人もトイレにいくことが楽しくなる、新たな体験を提供します。
